Rangoli: Fishy kolam

This is a black and white kolan...... kolam drawn with white kolam powder on a black granite base. It is a dotted kolam with dot count 15-8 inbetween dots. For a change no colors. U can see see so many fishes in this.

Rangoli: Dancing flowers.

This is a simple design drawn with 10/10 straight dots. This also own design from my old kolam book. No time to draw big rangolis, hence did this at 10 P.M . The base is a wooden plank.

Rangoli: Simple chikku kolam

I am a flatdweller, longing to put kolam on a mud floor.,What to do? so I changed my black granite with a mud color podi base and copied Pushpa's 7-4 dotted Chikku/maakolam and borrowed Deepa's lotus flowers and imitated Rani's THICK lines with kolapodi/rice podi mixture. Is this looking different?

Rangoli: Welcome Newyear.

This is a welcome kolam to the new'Rabbit Year'. This was done in a hurry. Last weekful I was very busy. But wanted to wish you all thru a kolam, so drew this in a hurry.

Rangoli: Modified old kolam

After putting 13-7 inbetween dots ,I just started doing a butterfly kolam but ended with this design. colored it with the remaining old kolam powders.( new stock has to bring for Pongal no?)

Rangoli: Star kolam with new decoration

This one also an old star kolam with dot count 15-8, and 5-1 on all the six sides (inbetween dots). The paavakaai and other decorations are made to this otherwise simple kolam and used coconut poo for coloring this. ( I have used only 3 tablespoonful of white kolapodi and recyled coconutpoo... I am very kanjoos no?)

Rangoli: Paavaikkai kolam.

This kolam is also an oldest pattern slightly modified. The dot count is 9-5 inbetween dots, then 2-1 on all the six sides. The yellow colored design is called ' Paavaikkai or bittergaurd' design, we all would have put this so many times. The centre will be usually a star design which I have changed in to a flower design. In the outer colomn also instead of paavaikai, I put small girls like design going around, hoping the younger generations also will continue this Kolam Art.

Rangoli: coconut/Banana poo kolam.

This simple design is made with colored coconut poo and decorated with plastic little flowers and tander Vazhaipoo ( banana flower). I think it should be called vegitable/poo kolam.
