Rangoli: lakshmI

On the eve of varalakshmIpUjA this rangOli has been drawn. With Her blessings, this is also dedicated to all those who wear Her name as their names Smile The name as spelled in English has perfect two-fold symmetry. When written in circular fashion, it reads the same way clockwise or counter clockwise!

Rangoli: Sankha

Many people seem to appreciate the Sankha rangOli (http://ikolam.com/node/6423?p=590) and similar ones. Here is a rangOli with real Sankha. The above one is at bottom right making up for symmetry allowances. Enjoy!

Rangoli: Belated birthday wishes

Happy birthday rAdhAjI!

Two word patterns with rAdhA. For those who are not familiar with the kannaDa or telugu script, consider them as just lines and enjoy the rangOli formed by the void spaces. The letter rA in telugu and kannaDa always reminds me of vINA. Does anybody feel that way?
Enjoy!

Rangoli: Banana - fruits and leaves

I have already displayed patterns with banana flowers. Golden Lotus is already in the pipeline. What I am now presenting are patterns with the fruits of banana and leaves. I am awaiting for a meal on such banana leaves Smile

Rangoli: paDikOlam - 4

This paDikOlam was created in the usual medium. It has all the usual characteristics of a paDikOlam, viz., horizontal and vertical lines, Sankhas and chakras, lamps and flowers. After creating the rangOli, another peculiar feature struck my eyes. I slightly remodofied the rangOli to enhance this feature. Please try to find out what this extra feature is. Aa always, your comments and suggestions are most welcome!

Rangoli: Golden Lotus

While I was working on the Madurai temple idealisation, I came across the golden lotus plant. It is similar to our banana plant, but shorter. Its botanical name is Musella lasiocarpa. It is native to China and grows there in the mountainous regions. But it can be grown in the tropics also. Its cost in the US can run in to several hundred dollars! It has religious significance in Buddhism. Here is a pattern I made out of the golden lotus, one of the most beautiful flowers in the world. Enjoy!

Rangoli: Inspiration -> Inspiration -> Inspiration

Well, rAjammAjI told that she was inspired by my rangOli to draw this
http://www.ikolam.com/node/4704
But after the recent discussion on this rangOli, I thought it might be interesting to try to duplicate hers. This is my effort, even though not proportional to hers in scale. What is just drawing three or four wavy lines with wet flour is quite complicated on computer (power point is my software medium). Also, it is not easy to draw white lines on a white screen! Any way, I hope you will offer nice suggestions for improvement.
