very cool - I have many, many designs I've made with the computer but didn't enter the contest because I thought it had to be rice or powder - I will enter next year
Hi Lata, my daughters are interested in participating in a rangoli contest the next time ikolam conducts one. What is the actual age criteria for participating?
Thanks,
Leena
Hi Lata, you are at the right place if you're interested in the art of kolam and rangolis. I think you should do what I did with my girls, for the sake of teaching the kolam making process. Just make them sit in front of the computer, log on to this site, and ask them to click on the blue button at the bottom of the beginner kolams (the ones which are animated). I promise, they will learn and practice on papers to begin with, and then give them a bowl of the white powder...show them the area to practice/experiment on and then leave them alone :). It would be messy, but that's how anyone learns.
I'm sorry...I don't email kolams to anyone, all members have to do is visit the site anytime...and they have access to the whole site, it has a huge collection of patterns, and you will not run out of designs to learn from!!(all thanks to the generosity of our friends/members).

good method of using broken rice & colored poweder - the colors look very deep
beautiful use of colors, great subect matter & the tipped pots give it a feeling of movement - great job!
Excellent - you must draw it out first - seems like you could get mixed up pretty easily.
Just beautiful! Have you ever made a mistake and have to start all over?
fantastic work yaar - I could only dream of doing that. You have a lot of patients to do that.
just beatuiful - was it made with colored powder or rice?

Hi Lux this is really nice say thanks to your Mummy.
Nice colour combination. Are the white cups surrounding the rangoli lamps or are they just for the decor?
