Golden Lotus

While I was working on the Madurai temple idealisation, I came across the golden lotus plant. It is similar to our banana plant, but shorter. Its botanical name is Musella lasiocarpa. It is native to China and grows there in the mountainous regions. But it can be grown in the tropics also. Its cost in the US can run in to several hundred dollars! It has religious significance in Buddhism. Here is a pattern I made out of the golden lotus, one of the most beautiful flowers in the world. Enjoy!

This Kolam was made using Paintbrush option on computer. Number of dots is 7 x 7. Have many kolams but using this method is tedious. I would appreciate if someone could enlighten me on the appropriate tool or software that I could use to easily draw the kolams. Thanks hope you like it.

Interesting yet eccentric experience while drawing this kolam...

When i started to make kolam my best friend Raman called...

Talked about our old days in IBM India and didnt want to put dots or kambhi kolams or poo kolams which needs concentration on the kolam.. infact I realised the meaning of CIRCLE after making this kolam only .....no beginning no end .... just like our lives .... manam pona pokkil kai pona pokkil uruvana kolam... turned out to be like old cinema rewinding flashback symbol and after keeping the phone i added the lotus and named it nabhi kamalam...
