This is a nagabandha rangoli. I've shown an easier way to draw one form of nagabandha. The steps can be seen when you click on play.

This is a auspicious Rangoli which we draw in front of god during Naga Panchami Festival. This I learnt from my Grandma
When all ikolam members were busy doing Margazhi kolams I was tied up with house painting. Our painter was kind enough to transform my favorite 'naga bandana' design on the portico wall and color it according to his choice! Here is the output waiting for your comments!
This design drawn on paper and colored with color pencil, sent to Avalvikatan but not selected.Anybody ready to put it on the floor with color kolapodi?
This design was on the wall of one of the temples on the banks of Ganges in Haridwar.
When I see the topic of Nagabandhana by mOhanaji, I felt like adding my 'naga kolam' which fetched me a prize for the first time!
kunDalinI nAgabandha is a chikku kOlam! Here is one I made with a string.
If you cut at any point and draw a head and tail, it becomes a nAga.
The one I am showing is a closed one. One can give more twists or eliminate
some to get newer patterns. Also this can be cut at two (four) opposite points
to give rise to two (four) snakes.
Regards! - mOhana
We worshipped Mahashivaratri by making a rangoli of Shiv-Parvati-Ganesh.
The tamil version of the design was done by Mr.Harikrishnan, and posted in Flickr.
