My mother-in-law and I made this kolam during Pongal 2008.

This kolam is decorated with lamps symbolic of the KARTHIGAI DEEPAM festival.
This is free hand coloured rangoli, drawn during karthigai deepam in our house.
This rangoli was made of Samanthi and rose petals. This picture was taken immediately after lighting the Karthigai deepam.
This photo of the kolam was taken at the AnnualDay Function of THE STATE BANK LADIES CLUB, KOYEMBEDU, CHENNAI in this year 2008. I participated in the Rangoli Competition, and got the first prize for the same. First it was drawn on the floor by a piece of chalk. Then it was filled with colour rangoli powder, mixed with pure-white rangoli powder. With the help of a single match-stick designs were drawn on the spread-out coloured rangoli powder. Then decorated with some glittering powders, and small pieces of mirror like metal pieces. I felt so happy in getting the prize in front of all the members of the club / all my friends.
I'm proud to mention the name of the Judge. Mrs.Revati Shanmugam, daughter of Thiru. Kaviarasu Kannadasan.
This is a free hand kolam with lamps. To all wish you happy karthigai!!

This rangoli was reated by Bharathi, Lakshmi and Pinky (Bharathi's co-sister). Here is the dots sequence:

This Margazhi beauty was created by Bharathi, Lakshmi and Pinky (Bharathi's brand new co-sister!).
You can see the dots in different colours...you can colour up the vilaku or lamp in any shades...but make sure the deepam is coloured the same way!
This is one more flower rangoli. I used Crossandra flowers and leaves in this rangoli.
