I have made this kolam for pongal in my flat.
The number of dots : 14-14 straight dots, Dot style: Connecting the dots
The name I give for this kolam of mine is "The lovely twins" or the "The twin lovers"
I drew this on our garden sand, since I wanted to try a different background other than the usual tiles or cement flooring. It took 2 hours for me to draw this kolam fully. I used the rice flour more with a slight mix of the rough kolam flour. I realised that I haven't bought different color powders, only after finishing the initial outline. I was down for a few moments that I won't be able to bring out a colorful effect. Anyhow I managed to make it look contrasting with the available colors and everyone liked it. I also used turmeric powder at the center for a different yellow. Maybe you too can try it at home.
So I decided to submit my entry for this contest.
I did this (my first dotted)kolam with rice powder.used food colouring with it for the colours.as it is freezing outside here in uk i had to do it within my little kitchen.the dot count is 19 to 10 interluding.
This is a pongal pots kolam and the dots are 17 dots (3 times) to 3, and the medium used is rice flour and colours mixed with rice flour.
Hello, happy pongal...I tried this from ikolam. Thanks. It's is very useful!
This Kolam I made on Pongal day outside the house. Nothing special. It got spoiled in 30 minutes because of drizzle (on the morning of 14th).
This kolam is drawn with rice flour with 19-10 dots (Oodu pulli). On top of that colour powders are used.
Just a small description about umbrella:
Umbrella means (shade) "a screen used in hot to keep off the sun, and in others to bear off the rain; "a kind of broad fan or screen, commonly used by women to shelter them from rain; also a wooden frame, covered with cloth, to keep off the sun from a window."
Its mainly used in all god utsavams to take ustasavars. So the umbrella has many possible uses.
21-21 straight. All things bright and beautiful as these flowers seem to say!
25-13 interweaving. "Colour, colour what colour do you choose?" ask these flowers.
21-21 straight. Life presents so many twists and turns, so does this kolam!
