The trees are bare with branches like skeletons, bare and brown.
But soon the spring breeze will wake them up. They will put forth
tendril after tendril. New blooms, green leaves, orioles' songs -
all very soon in a few weeks. In the mean time, with one little
green tendril, oh, how many rangOlis! Enjoy!

In our daugter-in-law's valaikappu we put pilliyar in navadania. We prepare a savory called kollu payiru. It contains kollu, pachaipayaru, bengalgram, pottukadalai and managaram. All are roasted and, salt & chilli is added. But the pilliyar was made with colourful daniams.

Have you ever eaten a Romanesco? Don't you think it looks interesting? A Romanesco is a vegetable, and is a cross between brocolli and cauliflower. Some people say that is tastes sweeter than a cauliflower. This vegetable is high in vitamin C, and can be cooked or steamed.
Since I wasn't allowed to go near the oven in the kitchen, I sent my monkey to check if the cookies were ready!
I put this flower rangoli on our office Ayudha pooja celebration. Used leaves and flowers to decorate.
