Hello friends, This is not my design. I have copied it from the Tamil magazine' " Snehidhi". Few years back they used to encourge original designs from kolam lovers. Every month they used to publish some 16 designs and readers should vote for the best by selecting the best one of their choice and vote thru the coupen attaced to the magazine. The winner who gets the maximum vote will be gifted with a Gold Bangle( one soverign). This was the prize winning entry in one month , I do not remember the creater's name.( One Ms. Usha from chennai , I think). I liked it and copied it in my book. Though it is a dotted design, it gives some challenge to copy it correctly. When I saw mOhanaji's sona designs recently, somehow I felt this design has some resemblence to that category.Since the lines are twin(double) ezhai, the meeting place donot have a triangle but only a spot. Only mOhanaji will be able to elaborate on this. rajamma

Wow, fantastic kolam. Rajamma mam, awesome work by the original creater and the MODI(xerox) creator. very nice. The curved double lines and the interlocked star design looks very pretty. Whats the dot count.

Thanks rAjammAjI and latAjI. 1. Nice and pretty work. Good and pleasant colouring. The wavy lines not only enhance the beauty but also make the up and down motion clear. The lamps add an extra ounce of beauty. 2. This is similar to the one I made http://www.ikolam.com/node/14100?p=1930 except that there are two more extra strings in mine. 3. In fact, I discussed marginally about these in my work entitled "Hexagonal yantras" at http://www.ikolam.com/node/5387?p=1930 and also last week in another upcoming rangOli of mine to be uploaded. 4. To get something like the above, one has to do it on the paper and cut it. To me it would look nice if paper is not cut, but folded. But then you have other problems which I discussed in a note on the "Star of David" at http://www.ikolam.com/node/6549 in response to a work of latAjI. Personally, I like the string approach as we can twist the string and therefore we don't have problems of folding. Regards! - mOhana
