Kolam for beginners
Traditional kolam designs suitable for beginners. The steps to making these kolams are pretty self explanatory. Start with the dots (if any) and then followed by the lines. Once done, optionally, the enclosed areas of the kolam may be filled with color rangoli powder.

this was created in photoshop, watermelon, cucumber & rose flowers combined the backgound was my house floor which was made to set.
This is my Invention :)... The Dot Count would be 3-5-7-7-7-5-3(straight dots). Hope You all like it!
This is a maa kolam created on my father-in-law's 80th birthday by my chitti, Girija chitti.
According to the ancient eastern tradition, the gourd is most commonly recognized as a symbol of longevity and good fortune. Here is a dotted kolam design, with a four-fold symmetry.
A dotted kolam with bottlegourds and a border (this was pulled from my old stack of files that was made a few years ago). Comments to improve are always welcome!
