As I mentioned earlier, after viewing Ms sumati's ramgOli
for the contest, I remembered this tesselation I made in
Dec 2002 for Christmas and new year. I am also mentioning
the verse of Khalil Gibran I quoted there -

I heard the teachings of Confucius;
I listened to Brahma's wisdom;
I sat by Buddha under the tree of Knowledge.
Yet here I am existing in ignorance and heresy.

I was on Sinai when Jehovah approached Moses;
I saw the Nazarene's miracles at the Jordan;
I was in Medina when Mohammed visited;
Yet here I am a prisoner of bewilderment.
....
I gathered wisdom from India,
I probed the antiquity of Arabia;
I heard all that can be heard.
Yet my heart is deaf and blind.
....
I was here from the moment of the Beginning
and here I am still.
And I shall remain until the end of the world,
for there is no Ending to my grief-stricken being.

The Chinese new year holidays are on now. It is the year of ox.
They have a twelve-year cycle named after animals and birds. We
also have a twelve year cycle in India. The river pushkarams
coincide with this cycle. The twelve year period corresponds to
the time taken by Jupiter around the sun. Here is a symmetric
greeting card on this occasion with the Chinese character for ox
shown at the bottom left. Two patterns are given for your

After seeing Srimati bRMdA's work, I was inspired to do this
collage. Indian flags are flying in the blue skies. In
the sky there is no up or down or left or right. So all
ways of flying it are permissible. Indians, enjoy the
Republic Day! Best wishes! Perhaps one of the kOlam artists
may be awarded a padmaSrI in the future, who knows? Dream big!

Jan 20, 2009 is a special day in the history of my adopted country,
the US of A. For the first time, the dreams of millions of
under privileged people are being realised. To mark this occasion
I am enclosing an ambigram of Obama's slogan - Yes, we can! It is
made in the colours of the US, viz., red, white and blue. Enjoy the
