Kolam Contest Participants
Dear friends/kolam contest participants,
We've a problem. Some of you haven't used the given title for the kolams that might've been uploaded for the kolam contest. Without the proper title, it is becoming harder to distinguish between regular kolams to be uploaded in the site, and the ones meant for the dotted-kolam contest. If you've used words like "contest" in the title while submitting the entry, then it is fine, but if you've used words like "margazhi", or "kolam", it does not indicate that those are meant for the contest. I've contacted some of you through emails and have received the responses. Please email me your user_id and your names, if you think you don't remember what title you've used or if you just aren't sure. We don't want to disappoint anyone
Thank you.

Hi Neeti, You're not able to find your kolam because it is not displayed in the voting page. The title of your submitted kolam read "Margazhi kolam" (which was the only one you'd submitted), and it didn't indicate that it was meant for contest. So, it was uploaded in your section of the gallery. You can find it here:
http://www.ikolam.com/node/2812?p=2811
There are many active members in ikolam who send their designs on a daily basis. To differentiate between the regular margazhi kolams and the ones meant for the contest, we had assigned a particular title called "Margazhi dew drops kolam contest". You weren't the only member who sent in kolams with different titles. I'd written about this problem in the site, as well as my blog a couple of days ago, so members can let me know if they were contest participants. I heard back from 7 of the members who had emailed me or posted comments to let us know. I'm sure that I hadn't heard from you.
Let me know if you want me to add your kolam in the voting page. There's still time...
Thank you.

I have a request to make. When people comment, it
is not enough in my opinion, to say fine, nice, good,
etc. It will help the person who created the rangavalli
if they say why they like a particular pattern and what
makes it stand out and in what way the beauty could be
further enhanced. These will educate the pattern creators.
Remember nobody is above criticism as long as it is politely
and courteously done. Best wishes and regards! - mOhana

I agree, critiquing and offering suggestions to improve is beneficial to the creator. I'd wanted to bring up this point myself, but couldn't do it because I kept receiving emails/entries which had phrases like "is mine good enough" or "would mine qualify".
Lets hope no one would take it personally :), it is after all for our good, everyone wants to improve...it is also ok to ask for clarification if we don't understand something that was mentioned about our work.
I also have a request to make, although I didn't participate in this contest, I would like something I made to be critiqued too...just to make sure my future work would be slightly better than the ones made in the past. How about taking another look at my chariot/kombu kolam that I sent in the newsletter (is also in the front page) and giving me tips to improve...
Brutal critiques are welcome and appreciated
Thanks.
