Alamelu madam, Lata has already added this flower in the garden in the name 'Amaltas' (கொன்றை) for myself, Rajam and Jayanthi. We will be happy if you also join us!

This is my most favourite flower among all the varieties. Actually last month when I went to Cochin all the trees were in full bloom much ahead of the normal season I think. Initially I had a small tree in my house and it bloomed for two years. Ultimately much to my dismay we had to cut it down because we were building upstairs and till date I have never had the luck of getting another tree for my house. Though we did get two saplings, that did not survive, but I will not rest until I have one in my house one day. HAPPY VISHU TO ONE AND ALL :)

Happy vishu to you too! konna flowers are also on an Indian stamp. One can see the flower and also read about the legend associated with this flower and the little girl manjula here : http://thinkingpoint.wordpress.com/2008/05/29/kani-kaanum-neram/ Actually I was looking for a single konna flower to make a pattern and found the very same image above here : http://www.flickr.com/photos/shajis/456332160/ What a coincidence! I correlate konrai malar with chandelier, the hanging flowers.. It was so nice to view a full bloomed tree with attractive yellow flowers right from my window, needed to change my residence, so missing those chandeliers... Thanks Alamelu Maam for sharing the picture..
