Was this done for any kind of a special pooja for the goddess? Looks like the smaller idols are also dressed in hand-made orange miniature sarees?

The orange dresses are readymade one. This set up is kept in front of Kolu on Navarathiri.
The bangle rangoli is utilised in this way.

Viji Mam', I've always struggled with making rangolis in front of the golu during those 9 days of navrathri, mainly because our floors are wall to wall carpeted, and I hunt around the house for a board to place in front of the golu for kolams. I'm planning to incorporate your plate-rangoli ideas...I see many possibilities. Thank you.
