The figure is self explanatory. Left top - A hexagon (not regular) is chosen, long along the vertical. Left middle - More vertical hexagons are added to this. Left bottom - One set of vertical hexagons is superimposed on another horizontal set that is obtained by rotating the above by 90 deg Right - More such figures are added to obtain this pattern.
