Viji, I visited Mannargudi Rajagopala Temple's annual utsavam on the 'vennai thazhi' day! Krishna holding a big vessel and carried around the street in a palanquin, people throw butter from all around! it was a fun to watch! The day's functions are sponsored by the butter merchants around the town!

Judyji, its Udupi Krishna Temple deity, with BalaKrishna alankara...the main diety is stone, the external decorations are done using different materials, with silver/ panchaloha hastas and paadas. Every festival, Krishna adores a different look. some more pics of Udupi Krishna in different attires http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/album/50783667dMykUs http://madhwabrahmanas.blogspot.com/2009/01/fourteen-puujas-per-day-at-udupi.html
