Thanks Rani and Suba for your encouraging words. You people are right. Atleast I could enjoy the kolam thru this picture. When my hubby opened the door, I was telling him from inside to comment on this. He asked me - where is ur kolam? I thought he is simply making fun of me. When i went out and saw empty space, i was really shocked. Our watchman is a nice guy and he is a tamilian. He'll not tell anything if I make kolams on the entrance. The cleaner boy is a Bangladeshi, he doesn't know about our tradition. so he would have done it unknowingly. Mahalakshmi

Oh this sounds so sad pa....u know what that gift kolam which i did for more than 1-1/2 hrs was washed just within 3 mins after rushing to d terrace to take a snap....d bitter part is it didn't rain heavily pa...just a few drizzles to make a water effect on that huge kolam hhaha...what to do....

So sad Rani. That kolam was really pretty and it still remains in my eyes. What to do - it happens like that. In ur case, it is nature made. In my case, it is man made. that's the only difference. Mahalakshmi

Rani, in my previous comment "that kolam" refers to your 'Gift kolam'. Mahalakshmi

Oh! what a lovely chikku kolam. Even the pink color stands out in the red base. where from you got those zigzag puzzle pieces to decorate this kolam? Regarding vanishing of kolams I too have experienced it. Either rain, wind or cleaners or the neighbouring little angels, headed by my G.son, all do that vanishing act with in seconds, without knowing how much time we spend in creating it.jJst like a rainbow flashing in the sky for a few minutes, our kolams are also as beautiful and shortlived... Thanks for ikolam/ Lata, for preserving them. rajamma

THanks Rajam mam for your lovely comment. "Zig zag Puzzle pieces" - sounds good. It didn't strike me, otherwise i would have named it mu kolam as "Puzzle kolam". I got this design from net browsing only. the original kolam was without dots (blocks type) and I tried to place dots and made this kolam. Mahalakshmi

Wow! such a fantastic kolam maha...really superb looking dear...those centre part looks like fire ... maha...pls don't feel bad dear...atleast in your case by not knowing our tradition, that Bangladeshi boy had done this...in my case...every Friday you know I will decorate my door steps and put kolams..and light diyas na...our people itself will simply stamp or rub the kolam and go off..when I asked one day...they are all telling..."this space is for walking only...not for putting kolams ...if you want you put inside your house"...(see the people's mentality here...)

Thanks for your feedback and comment Bharathy amma. Amma, Your suggestions and comments are always welcome. I live in Sharjah and working in Dubai. I don't get an oppurtunity like you to make kolams on regular basis. I make kolams during weekends only. Mahalakshmi
