February 14th! A day most romantic people look forward to. Many of you might exchange flowers, chocolates, and/or cards among yourselves. We have always felt a strong connection towards our ikolam community, and hope to spend Feb 14th with ikolam. So, got any love for us? We didn't plan on throwing any such trick questions, but in case you have some sort of "hearty" feelings towards us (us as in ikolam), then may be you might want to consider sharing it with all of us.
The Chinese New Year is right around the corner! As you all might know, the Chinese New year can occur anytime between mid-January to February. The Chinese calender is lunisolar, and so it is also known as the Lunar new year. This year, the Chinese new year falls on 10 February 2013, and it will be the year of the snake. Chinese people living all over the world celebrate this festival with great pomp and show.
Mardi Gras is a festival celebrated prior to fasting season of Lent. It is also known as Shrove Tuesday and Fat Tuesday. It refers to the practice of the last night of consuming rich array of foods before the ritual fasting of the Lenten period, that begins on Ash Wednesday. This year, Mardi Gras occurs on February 12. Celebrations include floats, carnivals, parades, sport competitions, dancing, and parties where people celebrate with fancy costumes and masks.
