usually ,we use panneer sombu, in marriage reception, .you may try this design in a paper plate or any plate for the purpose of decorative or aarthi plate.I have drawn the panneer sombu, in three colours , for the purpose of easy reference.

This is a maakolam I tried today... Was in Delhi for Vinayaka Chathurthi to attend a marriage so doing a late pooja for my favorite God. Due to the wind and the smooth floor, it was a little difficult to put. Anyways hope you like it
