I discussed earlier a pattern of Mrs saumya at http://ikolam.com/node/19870 . This did not seem to have been read much by the viewers. In it I mentioned that it is possible to generalise this pattern. Here is one such pattern where a 3x4 sOnA and a 4x3 sOnA are joined and this combined unit is formed as a square with two lines. In the centre is another generalised pattern of the same 3x4 sOnA motif. This has only one line. Enjoy!

This kolam is another one for all. i collect the newspaper galary. the dots are 17-9.
Today I tried making a small version of the chikku kolam uploaded recently by Malar Anand. I learnt to use Turmeric and Kumum in kolams from my Mother-in-law. I think I have only reproduced the chikku pattern, but not the neatness of Malar's kolam!!! Hope this is not bad, considering I have started to learn making kolams only since last 6 months.

This is the kolam my MIL put for the finals of the times of India Competition that was held on 23d Jan Marina Beach. It is 41 to 1 straight dots. The rule was to put only dotted kolams and no rangoli. Surprisingly, we could see both there. SHe likes sikku kolam more than any other kolam.She personally congratulates all the winners of the marghazhi contest.
