maa kolam
About maa kolam : PRINT
This is the kudai thamarai maa kolam which I learnt from elders present in my family. This is an expandable kolam usually made during auspicious occasions. Just wanted to share my attempt though it did not come out perfect. Awaiting your views and tips for improvement

I feel this is really good attempt dear, dont know why you feel it has not come out good. It looks very good on the kaavi background... Lovely kolam, I am so glad your elders have passed on this to you... do give us more such traditional looking kolams. My chitti (aunt) had done a similar kolam some time back... here is her version of the kolam http://www.ikolam.com/node/7335

Lovely maakkolam on a red oxide floor. You have done a neat job. Ofcourse to get a 100% symmetry in this type of kolams, you have to keep dots on the egiht sides at equidistance and then draw the lines.
Since you have named it Kudai Thaamarai, the petals can be little wavy here and there.

thank you so much for all the tips and encouragement. Happy that you all liked it. Maybe I should venture into the maakolam field and learn more. I have always been attracted to chikku kolams and would only try with podi. Your encouragement inspires me to try more!!
