Contest Rangolis

All of my kolams are freehand and filled with colour powders.

My rangoli this year is inspired by the dance form I learn (Bharatanatyam), it's a free hand rangoli made with colored sand. The total size of my rangoli is approx. 40Sqft. and it took 2 days for me to create this human size dancing girl.

Diwali Rangoli 2017 Size 8’ X 10’ (sq. Feet) I started this rangoli at 2:00pm and completed on 1:00am so it took total of 11 hours to complete. “Shreenathji” is the One of Avatar of Lord Vishnu. Similar to Lord Dwarkadhish. I hope u guys like it :) Happy Diwali to all

Hello to All, The theme of my golu is Shiv Parivar. Lord Shiva and Parvati with their sons, Karthikeya, Ganesha and daughter Ashokasundari. Goddess Parvati is holding her sons in her arms. THIS IS NOT A DOLL. Parvati's body is handmade by me, with a decorated mannequin face on top of it. The Rural world market consists of people from different corners selling commodities they are famous for.

My golu has a display of our gods and goddesses , viswaroopa Darshanam with dashavataram on one hand and Shri Krishna leela , kailasham with shiva paribar, Shri ram parivar. I also created a kondapalli village with a temple that showcased the exquisite art of kondapalli. On the other side I made the city of Hyderabad. Also included are the steps in traditional Telugu marriage.

In this year's Golu we wanted to showcase the family's 5 favorite temples from our trips in summer in 2 of the cities in Tamil nadu that we have our roots from - Chennai and Trichy. We picked salient features of the temples and hand built structures eg: gopurams, kulam, pillars, shrines and roads. In the center is the replica of the Srirangam temple with the Ranganathar shrine with Andal (one of the famous azhwar) on one side and the special consort Thulakanachiyar (Muslim princess) on the other side, both are known for their love for Lord Ranganathar. We have the azhwars on one side and the Garuda Sevai in procession around the streets on the other side. All the gopurams, the kulam (tank inside the temple), a smaller model of the 1000 pillar hall, the Garba Griham for the Ranganathar shrine are all hand built and hand painted. On one side of Srirangam is the Raghavendrar Mutt and further up is the Rockfort Ganesha temple in Trichy separated by the Cauvery River. The highway on the right depicted by hand made roads leads to the Chennai suburbs where the Mahabalipuram Shore temple is depicted and to the right of which is Ashthalakshmi temple where all the Lakshmis are at varying levels on rocks with the ocean serving as backdrop for both temples. One fascinating story around the Srirangam temple is the shrine for the Muslim princess who gave up her life for Lord Ranganthar, this is a great lesson in communal harmony that existed centuries ago.
