If you notice celtic designs, you'll see that they look sort of like kolams - minus the dots.

This type of designs you can see plenty in Rameshwaram temple. In the outer praahaarams the ceiling is full of such kolams. i have taken potos of so many, inspite of neck pain. people going to Rameswaram temple donot miss to see this.
