Valentine's day - red and blue
Valentine's Day is the Western version of hOli or kAmadahana (next month in the Indian calendar). For details of the observance of this tradition go to - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valentine's_Day . Always without fail on Valentine's day, I am reminded of the mnemonic coined by Annie Cannon, a Harvard astronomer - O Be A Fine Girl/Guy Kiss Me Right Now Sweet. The first letters of this are the names of stellar groups. Well, astronomy and Valentine's Day have a common thread
When you're near me, I am enthused and see shades of red,
but when you're away, I am drowned in shades of blue;
When you're singing for me, my heart leaps to the red mountain,
but when you're silent, it sings rhapsodies of blue;
When you're touching me, one thousand red flowers bloom in my body,
but when you turn your face away, I shiver in the dark blue night;
When you're with me and kiss me, it is like a red letter day ,
but when you threaten to leave, I am lost and see the blue screen of death.
Many leaves and some flowers are heart shaped. Here is a collage of patterns with clover leaf, bleeding heart, calico and anthurium - from top left clockwise). Enjoy!
Regards! - mOhana
