Lakshmi, the border is as elaborate as the rangoli it contains! I'm seriously thinking of extracting the border out and saving it as a border for rangolis in another area. If this is the kind of rangolis you (women in your family) create in day to day life, what kind of rangolis do you women create during weddings? My guess is, the same kind of rangolis either with color powder and/or also with rice batter. Give us some names if you have any particular kinds of rangolis that women in your family make.
Lata whole rangoli is for u!!!!in kannada weddings after muhurtham the couples are given the first lunch it is called BHOOMADHA OOTA.the food is served on the five banana leafs spread and the surroundings are decorated with rich rangolis(colours are used) and lights are placed on that.this lunch is shared both of them and there will be lot of fun during this.
Wow!!
Nice. The explanation you have given is new to me. Call me if there is any wedding in your family. So that I can enjoy all your customs and can take video to send my dil. She can share it all with her friends.

What a beautiful rangOli! It is like a magic carpet taking one to lands unseen and
climes unknown! LakshmidEvIji, wonderful work! Yea, haribhUma is the most important
dinner in weddings. Everyone will eat to heart's content, except the poor bride and
the groom, as all people's one eye will be on their banana leaf and another on the
couple who are supposed to share the leaf and eat. May be sometimes, they have
another snack after the main event! If the muhUrtam is during day, they will have
the bhUma in the evening. But nowadays with a short time span for marriages,
everything will follow in succession. Regards! - mOhana
