Oh my, look at the long list of wishes from everybody! Thank you all.
I'll be back here later in the weekend to convey a "proper" thank you.
Lakshmi, I'm going to be checking the queue for a small lacy treat. (Not the kind that takes 3-4 hrs, but a mini version (less than 30 minutes). :0
A thought crossed my mind Lata. How did ikolam look on its very first day? Also would like to hear (histroy.. STDnna varalaaru thaane maapu) the Metamorphosis ikolam went and your endless effort to bring out ikolam updated to today's technology.. Guess not an annoying message
After golu at Lakshmi and Saras' place yesterday morning, I had to go shopping for floor tiles with my husband's brother for his house, so I could not log in to take part in this lovely celebration Anyway I always consider a 'better late than never' wise (psstttt recently I wished a friend of mine exactly one month late - hehe, now that's a different story) so here I am to express my belated sincere wishes to ikolam. If only 13th was a Saturday maybe we could have had the meet on that day and celebrated ikolam birthday for real. Let's plan it for next year - Chennai Members listening?? Lata thanks for conceiving ikolam for us and once again BELATED BIRTHDAY WISHES IKOLAM
My belated wishes. (Sorry i am still sleepy).
Thanks ikolam to showcause such a nice kolams of friends. And bringing forthwith the legend like Lakshmi.

Hi Rajam, I saw your belated 'vaazhthu kavidhai' only today! Written with good feel!
Iam sure everyone is busy with voting for golu contests hence missed this one!
Each and every line is apt and meaningful. Esp., liked your placing 'kalai kodi' and 'mani' appropriately.
As discussed this is to be translated by an expert for all the members to read and enjoy!
Lata, :)........sorry Without seeing the cafe topic not to use anyother language other than English , I wrote this wishes in Tamil. You have got everyright to delete this. ( after reading it once.)

We enjoyed reading this poem over and over again. I fall short of words to express myself completely, sometimes, especially when I get choked up with things like this one. Thank you so much for your wishes and blessings. This is one of the b'day wishes that I plan on framing come winter break.
RajamAmma it wasn't intentional to miss out your beautiful poem. I normally scroll into Recent comments to see how others viewed the kolam which I enjoyed. But being a contest season the recent comments were flooded with nice, lovely for more than 15 pages, which I ignored and inturn missed your poetic version.
Everyone expressed their feelings to wish in their own way and I Liked your wishes..Indeed a wonderful gift to the founders of ikolam which they would like to cherish on. Kudos to your effort.
Sorry Rajamma mam for this late comment on ur beautiful poem....as u know we were so busy with all d golu and marappachi doll decor releases....I would've missed this .....whatever was running in my mind u have brought out in words.....lovely expressions....
Jkm sir, your translation is crisp! I admire you linguistic skill too!
A small change-instead of 'kolam plant' it should read as 'kolam creeper' so that 'Lata' also will come into picture!
mOhanaji, croers and crores of my heart felt thanks for the wonderful translation.I was hesitating the last as few days as how to translate this in English, as promised, with my poor vocabulary . Your translation has brought out the feelings expressed in the Tamil version very beautifully. I am sure all members will enjoy this more. Thank you once again for considering my writings as worth for translation and spending your precious time for that.
with regards,
rajamma
wonderful rajammaji, thanks for this wonderful poem. mOhanaji thanks a lot, we owe you a lot for very good translation, which made all to enjoy this gem
Beautifully translated Mohanaji! Honestly speaking, whenever we are looking for any kind of translation, some of us start expecting comments from you, for sure. I must add that we can also wait for it with great patience.
Thanks everybody for uttering good words about my translation. That gives me encouragement. If one cannot be original, the next best thing is translation Sometime the translations are delayed due to preoccupation or laziness. Both are true However during the last few days, I was really busy translating. For those who know telugu, you may look at my translation of tirukkuRaL, kAmattuppAl at http://www.eemaata.com/em/issues/201011/1639.html and at http://www.eemaata.com/em/category/library/kamavedamu/ I hope I will be back to normal soon and offer my comments on some wonderful work going on here. Sorry ladies, I didn't offer any comments on the contests as they are not in my domain of expertise. I viewed a few and they seem to be very nice. That is all I can say about them.

Let me attempt to translate Mrs rAjammA's words -
The i-kOlam girl is celebrating her birthday. We salute those 'gems' (maNis) who patiently grew this kOlam plant and offered it to us.
You have been the rod that prods us to add lustre to the ancient art of kOlam.
You have tried to sharpen our skills by conducting healthy contests.
You have become an instrument in developing new friendships and in partaking and distributing joy all around.
You made the whole world appreciate the beauty of the patterns we created with our hearts and minds.
You have saved and preserved in your treasure chest the kOlam flowers that bloom and last for only a few hours.
It is very interesting to watch our handiwork on the screen.
It is a joy to read the comments that describe the patterns in umpteen different ways.
As long as I live, I wish to shine on this stage with kOlams.
With love and affection I, rAjammA, wish to bless your efforts.
- rAjammA
