BLUE JEANS
“You’re not coming like this?” I asked, shocked.
“Why, what’s wrong with this?” he mocked.
“You can’t wear jeans when you go to see a girl!”
“I don’t see why not?” he gave his moustache a twirl.
“What about our tradition? Go wear a dhothi!”
“Ma, I’m not seeing the granny, I’m meeting the pothi!”
“Nothing doing! Go change at once!” – I was firm…
“Oh, I’m not coming!” He eyed me like a worm.
After an hour’s pleading, this side and that
He came in a dhothi and unsmiling, sulking sat
Between us,as we recalled our past in nostalgic scenes…
He, as unhappy as can be, till she came out – in her blue jeans!

Usha, good one. I like the way you had summarised the "Bangalore meet" also. The style of writing is very good. At very first meet with you at 18th Cross, I couldn't make out that a very good writer is hiding within you. What a foolish I am.OK Better late than never. keep publishing and make all of our mind filled with fun and enthusiasm. Thank You Usha.
