Golu 2014 - Sarvam Shivamayam by Vanisri Ragupati

Happy Navarathri! Theme of our Golu this year is "Sarvam Shivamayam" - a total of 110 stories with 150 self hand-crafted dolls, 30 hand-made lingams and props. For each of the displays, we have given the corresponding reference (padigam) from Thirumurai. We have covered: 1. Pancha Bootha Sthalam - Five Shiva temples representing five elements (Kanchipuram - Earth, Thiruvanaikaval - Water, Thiruvannamalai - Fire, Sri KalaHasthi - Wind and Chidambaram - Sky) 2. Pancha Utsav - Five Festivals of Shiva (Annabhishekam, Maha Shivarathiri, Thiruvannamalai Deepam, Pradosham and Arudra Darisanam) 3. Pancha Bhavam - Five Types of Bhakthi towards Shiva (Dasyam, Sakhyam, Madhuryam, Vatsalyam and Santham) 4. Pancha Sabhai - Five Dancing halls of Shiva (Kanaka Sabhai, Rajatha Sabhai, Rathina Sabhai, Thamira Sabhai and Chiththira Sabhai) 5. Pancha Avatar - Five Avatars of Shiva (Durvasar, Agasthiyar, Adi Sankarar, Hanuman and Sai Baba) 6. Pancha Guna Moorthi - Five forms of Shiva with different qualities (Bairavar - Uggram, Dakshinamurthy - Shantham, Natarajar - Aanandham, Bikshadanar - Vaseegaram and Somaskandar - Kaarunyam) 7. Symbolism of Shiva 8. Saptha Sthaana Temples - Seven Shiva Temples in Mylapore and their stories (Karneeswarar, Theerthapaaleeswarar, Velleswarar, Virupaksheshwarar, Malleswarar, Valeeswarar and Kapaaleshwarar) 9. Ashta Veerattanam - Eight Shiva temples where Lord Shiva appeared in fury and their stories (Thirukkovilur, Thiruvirkudi, Thiruvadhigai, Thirukkandiyur, Thiruppariyalur, Vazhuvoor, Thirukkurukkai and Thirukadaiyur) 10. 12 Jyothirlingams -Twelve self formed Shiva Lingams present across India and their relevant stories (Kedaranath, Kasi Vishwanath, Vaidhyanath, Mahakaleshwar, Nageshwar, Somnath, Girshneshwar, Bheema Sankaram, Tryambakeshwar, Omkareshwar, Srisailam and Rameshwaram) 11. 63 Nayanmargal - 63 Shiva devotees and their stories Self hand-crafted items: ------------------------ 1. "Om, Lingam, Trishul" using Kundan stones 2. Shiva Lingam using 450 glass bottles 3. Bairavar (Pearl Painting) 4. Dakshinamurthi (Reverse Glass Painting) 5. Natarajar (Embossing) 6. Bikshaadanar (Copper Painting) 7. Soma Skandar (Madhubani Painting) 8. Navadhanya Shiva Linga Kolam 9. Shiva Symbolism using Glitter Glue • Thamboolam for ladies included Gold color plated Bilva patra with OM engraved on each petal - "Eka Vilvam Shivarpanam" • All kids were given "Stories of Shiva" book
