Sumathi, Mr.Appadoo invented this instrument, and it can hold upto 5-10 chalk pieces. He uses it to make big sized muggulu. Here is a close-up from his gallery:

Lakshmi, I don't know if this instrument is available in the market yet. Anyway, Surya had graduated to making geometric rangolis, so I think she wouldn't make me go look for one.
