I'm sure almost all of you must be swamped with Diwali-things to do before the 26th.
I just wanted to quickly drop by to let you know that we love your rangolis a lot, but, we would also like a taste of your home-made Diwali goodies. Please don't forget to click some pictures of sweets and savories during your preparation, and post them here for all of us to enjoy. Recipes would be an added bonus!
Before I forget, I would like to add that pictures of Diwali sarees would also be appreciated by all of us. It would mean a lot to people like me who miss being/living in India.
Wish you all a joyful Diwali.

It is a good idea, however one suggestion though. Even now, there are quite a few recipes in the cafe section. Is it possible to gather all of them together and put them in one place? latAji doesn't have to do this. Some other kindred soul can volunteer for this job. We can even have our own ikOlam recipe book! In fact in our work place this is done, and every year the NCI at Frederick brings out a recipe book. A downloadable Diwali recipe book is available in another rangoli site.

Mohanaji, I had already started gathering them all in one place, and am going to showcase a couple of recipes for starters, in the new format tonight. The rest will follow soon. The upload option from the top menu will have the provision of uploading the recipes as well.

Yes Mohanaji. Now that you've mentioned it, I feel like I belong to a group of great minds. :0
I guess we will wait and see if our JKM Sir shares one of his goodies with all of us.

Rani, please try to keep individual pictures (of dishes) separate. Our system now has a separate place for the main image, and the additional ones if there are any, for each recipe. I can't wait to see what you upload later on!

By all means Maha, pictures of the end result with the recipes are better than ones with no pictures at all. Thanks, can't wait to get a taste of your celebration! Just wondering, does your son get to taste atleast tiny bites/crumbs? Is he one yet, or much younger?:)

Ok, Lata, thanks a lot, I will send seperate pictures of the sweets and savouries that we have prepared. We prepared - Kaara Boondhi, Butter Murukku (but this murukku was not that much tasty as we expected), Poori Laddoo, 7 in 1 cake and Somasee.
We did all the sweets and murukku on week end (Friday and Saturday) and my husband's duty is that to take care that Amit doesn't come to Kitchen.
I preared the Kaara boondhi yesterday evening after going back to home. Once Boondhis are ready, i had to mix it with cashews and peanuts etc. This I did by placing everything on the dining table. Amit was so sweet that he stood on a chair nearby and was watching me how I'm mixing all these things. Then he started to hold my hands with the feel that he is also helping me out to mix. Then I gave him few boondhis to eat but he didn't want to eat.
But he started eating pappadam, appalam, vadam, banana chips, potato chips etc...

We have got a Pattu saree for my MIL from India. May be i'll upload the picture of the same. I have got some salwars only, because here I don't get any chance of wearing sarees to office. I only wear salwars for office. So got some materials stitched over here.

Dear Lata, I have taken the pictures of my MIL's pattu saree and pictures of all those bakshanams that we made for Diwali. Please let me know where to upload these pictures and the recipes. Is it on the cafe section, or r u going to have a seperate option for uploading these, as Rani suggested?
