Uploading rangolis to the cafe ...

Cafe is a place to discuss a variety of topics; but it is not a place to upload rangolis. We have had new members post rangolis there in the past. Looks like this bug has caught up to the experienced members too!
I have had to remove couple of rangoli topics from the cafe and re-route it back into the rangoli queue, in the last day or two. This is extra work for us and takes us away from the other much needed site work.
Please remember: If it is a rangoli or an image in which rangoli is a part, then it *must* be uploaded using the "Create Content -> Rangoli" option. Images posted in the Cafe will not be seen in your galleries.

Hi! I am currently unable to upload any images and get a message that I have reached the limit of 16 MB. What do I need to do in order to be able to add new images to my account?

We may take upto a week for publishing them.
You are not able to see your name in the gallery because we haven't created it yet. I see that you've uploaded two files today, and this is your first upload? We don't do instant display, since the images wait for moderation.
Since last month, we've started creating galleries once a member has posted atleast five rangolis or craft works. And, I must add that there are currently 74 members waiting to see their names added to the gallery. We've plans to rearrange the gallery page during the winter break, at the latest. My schedule starts to look more flexible after christmas, and so I plan to use my Christmas holidays to work on the gallery page.

Hi Lataji! I have been facing problems in uploading snaps to this site off late. I can't upload more than one snap at a time. Even though I see to it tht the image size is within 2MB. However the site does not allow me to upload any snaps for almost a week saying I hv reached a limit of 16MB. Due to this I was unable to upload my rangolis for Diwali contest or upload my karthigai kolams too. Is there any solution to this as I find it disheartening to be unable to add photos here.

Hi Riya, good to hear from you after a long time! I wish you had emailed me the first time you encountered this problem.
From now on, if you are not able to upload your rangolis or photos, please email me at lata(at)ikolam.com, and you'll hear from me within two days.
The problem is; your account had exceeded its alotted space, and whenever that happens, the admin has to be notified in order to arrange for more space. It happens to those members who upload here often.
I do remember publishing one of your rangolis just a day or two ago (the very next day I saw in the queue since it has been a while since anything of yours was published here), and I see another one waiting to go today. So that means there was enough space for atleast two of your rangolis. Oh, how I wish you hadn't missed the contest...I had helped many new members upload here during the contest. But they were also quick to let me know that they had a problem (not a space issue but due to being unfamiliar).
Your account should work just fine now, so upload away...

Thank you so much for solving the matter! Yes next time I will make sure to let u know of any problems I face thru mail. I have no regrets that I could not contribute to the contest as there were so many beautiful and excellent rangolis that no one would have missed mine
Anyways just feels good to share the snaps here. Feels like I have invited friends over who discuss abt the kolams and rangolis here! Thanks once again for this opportunity lataji!

Hi sorry i dono where should i post..so i asked there..not sure this is also right place. can u tell on wat basis kolams are uploaded in our gallery? the kolams which i submitted long back are not coming in my gallery but recent ones are coming..just want to know how they are selected and displayed,,,i submitted 8 kolams on topi marghazhi kolam..only 3 were diaplated,,so i asked whether there is any selection criteria for kolams to be displayed,,

Hi Rajapriya, you could've just opened up a new cafe post, instead of spending time on searching for an old one.
Anyway, here's my reply: We give preference to the festival rangolis in comparison to the everyday ones. We also publish the new members' rangolis within two days or so (so they start getting used to the system a lot sooner). I see that you've uploaded 3 on the 28th of December. We were publishing the Christmas rangolis around that time, and on Jan1 onwards, we've given preference to the "Happy new year" rangolis. We also pick and choose randomly from the dotted and freehand ones from each account. For instance, let's say there is a dotted one uploaded by you today, and a freehand rangoli waiting in your account since two days ago. If we have only 8 dotted kolams to publish today, then we would rather pick your dotted one uploaded today to publish.
I noticed that we've published your rangolis almost every two days from Jan 2nd onwards until yesterday (11th). That's a pretty good turnaround time in terms of our standards.

I must also add that you need to improve regarding working further with your images after taking pictures. I see that you've a lot of empty spaces on the top and the bottom of all of your images. In fact, can you try to crop the 4 images waiting in your queue and upload them again? I would like to see some improvement before publishing them.
It is alright with me if you don't have the time to crop the contest entry. But, the others would've to be cropped up. One more suggestion: almost all of your images are zoomed in too close in terms of the focus. I'll definitely like to see some improvement on the points that I've made. Thanks a lot and I look forward to seeing more of your wonderful artworks!

Since last few days, I have already been uploading directly using "Submit" icon without using the "Attach" one. Only today I am facing this problem (it still persists - checked just now also). I am copy pasting the exact message I got today after I directly tried to submit. It reads "The selected file Marghazhi 8.JPG can not be attached to this post, because the disk quota of 28 MB has been reached".
Kindly look into this.

Hi, Ms. Lata. The size limit for images was mentioned as 2MB for the Marghazhi rangoli contest. Is this the size limit for the regularly submitted images also? I am ensuring a size of less than 2MB for my images. Hope this is ok?

I have a question to the admin..Im not able to view what kolams tat i have uploaded..so wat should i do..im not able to view a separate set of my kolams.I have uploaded around 5 till nw..but im not able to figure out why im not able to view them.May i know what should i do..This is my kind request..And my Name also does not appear in the gallery.May i know where should i upload them and how to view them.Please give me Suggestions..

Lata mam.. ya i've seen it in my track..but it's not in the list of entry kolam page.. what's the problem? why it's not seen there?
