Very pretty indeed, looks like a nice table cloth. svAti ma'am, everybody can not help you in this regard. Only latAji can help. It takes time for the newcomers to get their gallery Yes you do qualify. But latAji must find time to allot one to you. Let us not forget ikOlam is only one activity in her busy life. This time is the end of academic year here in the US and she must be busy with the chores associated with her school going children such as plays, concerts, etc. Regards! - mOhana

Wow! superb work swathi mam. Outer borders looks so so pretty. Maha, your kolams are inspiring everybody to try...and cute matching border. swati mam, I also use chalk piece for drawing kolams near my door step...and used to draw these type of borders only (you can see my initial uploads), but one elder lady came and told me that we should not draw border as horizontal line near our door steps as it will stop Goddess Mahalaksmi's entrance inside our home...to draw only side borders she told...just wanted to share with you...(please tell me your views also mam in this)

Maha's design very beautifully decorated and the matching border is added charm. Regarding the horizontal border, as far as I know, Goddess Lakshmi will be pleased to see any house with a rangoli inviting her, the horizontal border will not stop her from entering. Olden days we used to put kolam only with rice floor and ants, birdsand squrills will come to eat the rice floor.( even today in my sister Jaya's house they use only rice floor). So when the ants are crowding near the enterance ( with a step ) people, especially children while entering the house will stamp on the ants and they may bite their legs also. To avoid that we used to put only vertical borders in the corners. Sepecial pooja kolams like Ishwarya kolam, or some yantra type designs, are not put infront of the house since they are sacred and people should not step on them by mistake. rajamma

It is heartwarming to see how our members get inspired by others' works and do an amazing job of it in their own way. :) The touch of turmeric and kumkum makes this work of art even more artistic. You should be able to find your name in the gallery, Swathi. Sorry for the delay. Mohanaji is correct regarding the cause for this delay. There is one more week for the schools to close, and there is more running around to do for the next few days. :) http://www.ikolam.com/node/22895
