Please ask lakshmi ma'am, she must have visited the place umpteen times
Udupi is the correct name, not Udipi, uDu means moon in Sanskrit and there is a Siva temple called chandramauLISvara there. There is only one thing in Udupi, namely, the Krishna temple with the idol of Krishna with churning rod. The idol was established by jagadguru madhvAchArya. By the way, don't forget to buy rangOli books there as the earliest rangOli books were published from Udupi. The nearby Malpe beach too is famous.

Ammu, if possible extend ur stay for another 2-3 days as there are many temples like subramaniyam ,katil, kollur, Darmastala, mukambika and few others(as told by my mom) and few beaches as mentioned by Mr.Rao. Regarding my visit totally depends on my children’s exams. so far Mumbai university has not declared the examination dates of first year engineering(my younger daughter-Disha’s) probably my elder daughters exam will get over by 9th may .If their exams are over then definitely we want to attend the house warming ceremony of my niece on 11th and 12th may .in that case I will extend my stay till 20th so that I can meet u .I f I am there in Mangalore at that time then u and ur family has to come to my in law’s place shirva which is quite close to udupi .I will take u to one shiv temple belonging to shirva and to the jungle belonging to us .(u may take some time to recognize me as I get tanned(kalu kaloti ban jathi hno ) very fast ,the main reason I love to wash dishes and cloths under the sun near well, the enjoyment we mumbaiker always miss).Hope to see u in Mangalore

I does all the household work but when u wash the cloths and vessels in the well water(cool cool water the enjoyment is totally different ).I get very good sleep any time of the day when I am there .When I come back people at our office laugh at my tanned dark skin(though I am not very fair) .my last visit was three years back .All of us wants a 10 day s break from our routine. let’s see what happens .Yesterday only my elder daughter was telling that she has t attend the one month’s industrial training from mid may to mid june.

Hi RAni, there is one more famous temple near Udupi. The ampalpady Mahakaali Temple.
This temple is situated around 2-3 km from Udupi, Karnataka on NH-17. Idol of goddess is big around 6 feet height. In most of the temples where Shakti (mother goddess) is worshipped there Shiva is also worshipped but here in this temple premises another temple of Lakshmi Janardhan is also situated.
The name Ambalpady is derived from Amba meaning mother and Padi meaning “Top of a hill” in local language Tulu. One more specialty of this temple is “Oracle” where mother goddess talks to its devotees through a person called PATHRI. This happens on every Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 9 p.m. During this occasion personal problems of people are heard and provided solutions.

Wow uma , very smart ……, vinci brilliant idea. Padma with ur suggestion if ammu visit that pathri then she will end up in asking only queries like, I s the earlier photos send by rekha maam is surely of heir’s or not? Who is in the slide 2 and 3? Padma think about Poor mahalaxmi who is working very hard (no time for even comments) on the project entrusted to her by uma will go waste
