1,3,5,7,9,7,5,3,1
This is my second kolam of 13 to 7 dot count. I have used 7 colours, hence I named it "Rainbow Stars".
Hi All,
Another fav of mine. During my school days in shimla and mumbai, i used to draw(infact scribble) with kola podi in front of our small flat,Usually the north indian type color kolam. I remember once during diwali, my mom made a kolam with green paint. I was admiring that kolam for hours. Then life changed and i was put in a girls hostel in tirunelveli when my dad and mom and kid sister moved abroad for work, Had no chance of making kolam ( another reason is that i grew up like a boy, basketball game and studies stuff) when started going to college from home only i tried making kolam in the mud patch front of our home which amma cleans with fresh cowdung and turmeric water. Mostly learnt from neighbours, amma, books and all my cousins in village.
Now getting a big cement platform but no kola mavu ....
As suggested by the forum members will try to use rice maavu , when i have time left from my tiring 12 hour work ..
I think the swastik mark is also wrong in this kolam, all these kolams which i am uploading is from the time i came to singapore ( from jan ) till now. Will correct the swastik mark henceforth.
Take care,
See you all again with another kolam,
Gowri Manohari Narayanan.
hridayakamalam is a chikku kOlam!
See the up and down movement of the string in this hridayakamalam (same as hk-2).
Depending upon the complexity of the kOlam, the number of points of intersection
varies. In this case, it is 16. The hridayakamalam like this has handedness.
Regards! - mOhana
This is the Padi kolam I drew for Tamil new year. Here in US we don't get kolapodi so I managed to draw it with little kolapodi and arisi maavu.
After the flowers here come the baby mangoes - just like serial lights on the tree...
Some more photos of the flowers on my mango tree...
Just want to share a small incident with you guys since JKM brought up the subject of mangoes.
I used to visit my grandma's house in Cochin when we were ready to return back to Chennai she would go around the yard and collect different plants for me to bring back and plant in my house. 6 yrs ago the day I was leaving for Chennai she came running to me with a small mango seed that had just sprouted with four leaves and told me to plant it in my compound (i have only 5' empty space around my house). I did not want to hurt her so I carefully brought it back with me and just for fun planted it wondering if I would ever get a chance to taste the fruit of this mango tree.. It grew nice and tall in two years time and the third year yielded fruit - sweet fruit.. I was thrilled to bits to eat mango from my very own tree - Ithink it is the "Sendhoora" variety. Now it is 3 years since my grandma died and whenever I see the fruit on this tree I cant help but remember the day she gave me the little sapling.. Had I thrown it away I would not have been the proud owner of my sweet mango tree. I am posting pictures of my mango tree with flowers and fruit just to share this with all of you - especially JKM... JKM hope when you come to Chennai it is mango season and I am able to give you mangoes from my tree...
