Hi friends ... have drawn this rangoli for Vaikunta Ekadashi, this is observed on Dhanur Masa Shukla Paksha Ekadasi or on the 11th day of bright fortnight during Dhanur Masam. Vaikunta Ekadashi 2010 falls on December 17th. It falls on Margashira Shukla Ekadasi day as per Telugu and Kannada calendars. In North India, this Ekadashi is observed as Putrada Ekadasi. On this day, in Vishnu temples Vaikunta Dwar or Vaikunta Dwaram or Vaikunta Vaasal (entrance to Heaven) is opened for Darshan of Lord Vishnu. This gate is opened only on Vaikunt Ekadasi day.
Vaikunt Ekadasi is also observed as Mukkoti Ekadasi.

This is the passage encircling the Lord. the innermost sanctum of the LORD.
Here we go and pray for world peace and good health for all.

Rangoli: Vaikunta Ekadasi - Rangoli

This Rangoli drawn for Vaikunta ekadasi. It falls on 7th of Jan, 09, created by Bharathi and self.

The significance of Vaikunta Ekadasi can be traced back to the Padma Purana. The Purana indicates that Lord Vishnu took the form of ‘Ekadasi’ – female energy – to kill demon Muran. This happened during the month of Margazhi. Impressed by ‘Ekadasi,’ Lord Vishnu told her that whoever worships him on this day will reach ‘Vaikunta’ (heaven).

Like all Ekadasi days, devotees fast on this day and observe vigil the whole night. Some people indulge in meditation, Japa and singing of Hari Kirtan. Rice is avoided during ekadashi days as it is believed that the demon Mura finds a dwelling in the rice eaten on Ekadasi day.

The ‘Vaikunta Dwaram’ or ‘the gate to the heaven’ is opened on this day. This is the passage encircling the innermost sanctum of the Lord. Here we go members of IKOLAM who belive can reach this Rangoli Vaikunta Dwaram(gate) & pray god FOR PEACE IN THE WORLD !!!!!!!!!.
