What a "B"eautiful first upload! I can understand how some of our members' works can make a beginner feel sometimes, but, if you ask me I think people begin to get interested and practice various craft-works/hobbies at their own time depending on availability of time and resources. Making time for such interests is not easy when we have other responsibilities as well. It is always the first step which takes a while, afterwards the community of friends drive you to participate more. Let me also tell you that at ikolam we have an understanding community and people here are highly encouraging and supportive. :)

Regarding your query to Lata about the gallery, I thought I'll answer ur query.
Once you finish uploading 5 or more rangolis and when it is published here, you will be given a space in the gallery. You can see all those which you have uploaded and published earlier in your gallery. Lata will create a gallery for you after your 5th upload. However, creation of gallery will take some time as Lata will be busy with other schedules also.

is it okay if i call u maha.. thank u so much for clarifying.. just one more doubt..it means that we cannot view already uploaded kolams till the time 5 or more kolams are uploaded; correct ???
Seetha, I'll be very very happy if u call me Maha (without the suffix 'mam'). Also I feel comfortable calling u as Seetha. Is that ok for you?
Seetha, u need not worry. Anyhow u r going to give us a visual treat everyday, isn't it? So very soon u'll finish uploading 5 or more rangolis. Lata will be creating a gallery page for u and u can see all your earlier rangolis that have been published here.
Actually even if u don't have any gallery in ur name, still one can find the earlier uploads but that requires lot of patience. For eg. your kolam is published under freehand rangolis. Right now, it is available in the front page display. Tomorrow, when Lata refreshes and publishes other rangolis, your's will not be there in the display. If u click any one of the image under freehand rangolis, in your right hand side you can see 5 images there in thumbnail (the current one, the next two rangolis and previous two rangolis). U click any one of the previous rangolis, then again in that page u'll be able to c 5 images in thumbnail. Like this u have to continue until u r able to get your upload. But this is cumbersome.

Seetha, when time permits, please have a view of other members galleries too. You'll find excellent uploads there. Then U'll feel - 'oh no, all these uploads are much more better than Maha's'. Ha ha ha. Really dear, have a look into other members uploads also. I don't want to name a few of them particularly, as everyone in this I-Kolam site are my friends.

Maha I would like to add a simpler way to finding the kolam dear, under search option u can put the name that you gave to ur kolam and search, it will also give results.
Seetha, welcome to ikolam thru this lovely padikkolam.( I am a lover of Maa/padikkolam and this design is one of my favourite.) As Maha has given you all the basic information needed by you I am not repeating them. We all will be happy to see your kolams and make you the master in notime.... visit our galleries to see how ordinery they were.in the biginning. Even a few lines we draw and name it kolam, Lata madam was kind enough to publish them with a welcome comment and encouragement. So you yourself will find the impovement in your works soon..
One more important thing....'Commenting'..... Just imagine this page without comments!Everybody has taken their precious time and passed thier views, which you would have enjoyed more. So not just uploading your kolams but commenting on others work also very very important.By mutual appreciation we become / grow as friends.

Seeta wellcome dear to our ikolam family .Your first upload is so sooooooooooo beautiful i don't have words .Our experts(guides)are not only good(masters) in their work but also very good in encouraging and teaching .I am one of the worst,buddu student they have with them but they try to teach with their love and affection .Now at least i got confidance in me that one day i can do the big dotted rangoli .
