Art from waste
About Art from waste : PRINT
This Tree was our first Christmas tree, after coming to Sivakasi from Bombay. We used to decorate it with all types of things. After the second Christmas it totally dried up. Not willing to thrash it, we stuck some artificial wood leaves(pine cone spikes) some dried flowers to its branches and put it on the showcase. Meanwhile, a Bulbul family had built a nest and left it on our roof top, which was again set up on this tree. My Dad found some artificial sparrows in a sale and after all this done, I had this work to be shared with you all. This is almost 20years old. The photo was taken just last week.

Gosh Purni - you are the works!! This reminds me of a sprig of pinecones which I had collected when I went to Mahabs as a kid... I had a lot of coloured silk embroidery thread (my aunt's collection from Aden which she left back for us when she migrated to Australia) which I used to cover the intersections of the pinecones. After I was done this dried sprig looked so colourful and my mum kept this in a flowervase for many years - pity I could not take a photograph (those days owning a camera was a luxury) to show all of you what it looked like, but thank you for refreshing warm memories of mine... My mum also has a unique christmas tree (yipiee christmas is just 4 1/2 months away) - will upload a picture shortly for you all to see
