Cherry Blossom Festival - Spring 2009

Welcome to the 2009 Northern California Cherry Blossom festival! In April of 2009, The Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival celebrated its 42nd year, and it is one of California's most prominent celebrations of Asian traditions. Thousands of people attend this festival each year, that showcases the diversity of the Japanese American community. The festival is hosted in public parks, adjacent to city community centers, and the place offers an ideal atmosphere for street fairs, as well as for indoor demonstrations and stage performances.

People enjoy browsing through various booths that showcase culture and customs of the Japanese people, like Origami (art of paper folding) and ikebana (art of flower arrangement). There is Japanese traditional arts and crafts fair, a food bazaar featuring Japanese cuisine and cooking demonstrations. The Japanese classical and folk dancers keep us entertained in the indoor stages, while the Taiko drummers add to the energetic environment from the outdoor stages.
