Venus transits the sun - June 5/6 2012

It is a special day today! An Astronomically special one! Planet Venus transits the sun on June 5th and 6th (in some parts of the world). This show won't take place again until 2117. We had visited a neighborhood commercial complex (telescope/lens store) to witness this event, where the visitors could see the rare display via telescopes. Venus was more or less like a black bead against the bright orange color of the sun. (Special filters of the powerful telescope was the source of the bright orange color). Anyone else had a chance to see it? Venus last transited the sun in the year 2004. No one from our family had a chance to witness it then, and we sure are glad we didn't miss it this time.
