I tried to make a dotted Padikolam(??) as Padi kolams are my favourite (also difficult for me to draw free hand!!) Though it is a 10 x 10 dot matrix, I have made a lot of free hand additions too. Hope it resembles a Padi kolam!!

I made this kolam on one of the marghazhi days. Dot count: 7 - 3 interlaced. The design is from an old issue of "Aval Vikatan", magazine. Even here, I have used home-prepared colours. Hope u like it.

Today I tried making a small version of the chikku kolam uploaded recently by Malar Anand. I learnt to use Turmeric and Kumum in kolams from my Mother-in-law. I think I have only reproduced the chikku pattern, but not the neatness of Malar's kolam!!! Hope this is not bad, considering I have started to learn making kolams only since last 6 months.

One of my marghazhi kolams with 10 - 7 interlaced dot count. The outer green and central pink colours are regularly available kola podi colours.

This kolam was made by me on a Marghazhi Friday. I hope this passes as a Padi kolam as I don't know much about Padi kolams. Here also, the colours are home-prepared.

This is a simple colour kolam done by me during this marghazhi day-1. Dot count is 7 - 4 interlaced dots.
The colour powders were made with ingredients available at home. Violet made with "Ujala" liquid blue; Red is Kumkum; and orange made from Kesari (food) colour.

This Pookalam was done inside the "Kerala Village" theme area at the ongoing "Sarang" cultural festival of IIT, Chennai (probably by some students). It was about 5 feet by 5 feet. The photo was taken by my husband.
