Your favorite tailor
Please post your recommendations for good tailors in your city. It doesn't matter which city/country or continent you live in. You see, we have ikolam members from various places, so the information would come in handy for anyone, or everyone.
Let me share something with all of you here; I live in California, and have trouble finding tailors who stitch according to our specifications. So, people like me have been and will continue to get their clothes (blouses) stitched during their Indian trips. And, I have many friends who have trouble finding suitable tailors, who could finish the stitching work within atleast a two week time-frame.
I'm sure you understand our problem, so please, post your recommendations and help other poor people...people like me.

What is the turnaround time Sumathi? Does he stitch within 2 weeks (I am only talking about say one blouse)? Let me know, I might use your name if and when I get a chance

Let's say I'm desperate; can I say that I work for Sumathi madam and expect to get my "stuff" back within two weeks? (Maybe if one is that desperate, paying more could help too, right?)
One of my friend, on her trip to Coimbatore had to come back empty handed because the guy couldn't return her "stack" of blouses and silk skirts for her daughters within a two week time frame. And to top it, the girls had personally picked out the silk fabric for Diwali! Wearing non-indian clothing bought in America spoils the Diwali mood.
My thinking is, just keep the load to a minimum, two things per tailor at the maximum, for a two week time frame? Thank you for the input.

In coimbatore, "Feelings" is a good tailoring shop, where i used to stitch all my blouses and chudis. Amazing embroidery work in kurtas' and silk blouses are done by them. There are 4 branches in Coimbatore - Race course, Ram nagar, Mettupalayam Road, and R.S.Puram. Usually, we can get the materails within 1 week to 10 days in Ram Nagar branch. Other branches may take 2 - 3 weeks time frame.

This was one of the topics of discussion among the relatives during my son's wedding. Some of the findings were:
1. A tailor who stitches well once fails miserably in the next time-this was unanimous!
2. No one is punctual. If at all you find one he won't be there next time!
3. It is purely luck that you get things done to your satisfaction.
