We were discussing about teacher's day and who are all teachers in the family etc in our homefront mailing group. JayaMohan said, all mothers are teachers for their kids. Her son immediately sprung with a reply.
All fathers are TEACHERS but all mothers are LECTURERS.

Jayanthi, thanks for popularising my son's joke!
Yeah, he is always quick-witted.
It was about a year that I took over the kitchen from my mother in law. I asked him casually what he feels about my preparations. Immediately he replied "I used to get grey hair in the dishes before but now I get black hairs!"

I always wanted to be a teacher but missed being one by just Rs.10/-. My first job offer (1977) was to be a kindergarden english teacher in a small nursery school near my house for Rs.90/-. I also attended an interview for the post of a steno-typist in a chartered accountant firm and got selected for a salary of Rs,100/-. Getting a 3 digit salary was something great then so I opted for the steno-typist job (glad I did because that is where I met my husband). After I joined this CA company the school sent word to say that they could pay me Rs.100/- but it was too late as I had already joined work.. So you see missed being a teacher by just ten rupees. I am glad that Anita has been able to achieve this as she is a Multi-media Lecturer in Women's Christian College now. She said that the girls cut a lovely juicy fresh chocolate cake for them on Teacher's Day.
Jaya your son's sense of humor is too good...
