Movies

Watched any movies lately? Please do give us a hint about new movie reviews, so we could make our plans accordingly! Smile
I watched Delhi 6 a couple of weeks ago, and thought it was ok, I sort of expected a bit more. It is interesting to note that the climax was changed from the original version before it got presented in the 66th Venice Film festival. Reminded me of Kaakka Kaakka (where the sad as well as the happy ending was shown).

I saw a few movies recently which I thought was really good (my personal opinion)...

Naadodigal
Kungumapoovam Konjupuravum
Maayandi Kudumbataar
Pasanga
Poo

while Poo was the only movie that had a chocolate hero (Srikanth) in the lead - the other movies had a whole bunch of unbelievably raw new faces/talent.. All the above movies were very emotional.. I know I missed listing out a couple or more which I will remember and list out soon...

The hype being created about Kanthasamy, I hope it is able to live up to its expectation....

iaooo..i dont about these movies ....i know only one movie "chandramukhi"
Judy madam tell me.... you know any kannada movie

judelined's picture

Yes Vani I too cried while I was watching these movies - very emotional ones, but at home we watch movies after dinner in our bedroom so lights off no one can see each other crying (hehe sometimes everyone does).. I heard Achamundu Achamundu is also a good movie - yet to see it though...

Radha it has been years since I have seen a kannada movie. Those days when Doordarshan was the only TV channel we could watch kannada and telugu movies and I had seen some old movies (dont remember the name of story) which had Raj Kumar and Aarthi in the lead. I think one movie had Aarthi in double character too... But that was long long ago...

I have enough of those crying moments in my real life, very often! Smile
I missed yet another important extended family-occasion in India. It was my cousin's Valaikappu yesterday, in India, and I missed this too. This was attended by almost all of the other relatives, who live in India. And, I'm the only one stuck here Sad

So, I like to stay away from emotional movies, I don't have any more tears to spare, and have to save some, for the next "nice thing" that I may not get/have, because of my lifestyle. Thank you so much for posting these movie reviews. People like me, especially my friends and I, here, depend on the reviews, to decide what to watch.
Thank you ladies Smile

We enjoyed watching Bharath Vilas on SunTV recently.

judelined's picture

Bharatha Vilas revives old memories for me - in 1976 we celebrated our housing board colony's 10th anniversary and there were many events like sports, quiz, poetry competitions etc. and the final day was prize distribution day for which the chief guest was (that time) Housing Board Minister Mr.Rajaram and to give away the prizes we had invited the renowned film actress Sowkar Janaki.. We had a couple of plays and stage events and the entire set of girls danced for the song "Indiya naadu nam veedu, Indiyan enbadhu en peru" from this movie enacting people from different states of India.. We had a movie make up man come to dress us up and it was done so professionally that no one could recognise the girl in their respective boys costume.. This dance was a super hit and guess what role I had done??? That dono by the great Sivaji Ganesan... I was too young to realise who I was imitating but did justice I suppose because at the end everyone clapped and asked 'once more'.... Pity I dont have a copy of any snaps taken or else I could have uploaded them for you all to see...

So Judy, you played the role of Sivaji? My goodness, that must have been a challenging role to play! I wish cameras could have been more easily available back then. Sad

Judy for your information , the director of this film Mr.A.C.Tirulokchander happens to be my uncle.I still remember attending the 100 th day celebration of this movie where I saw K.R. Vijaya with a maroon and black silk saree and rows of Mallipu adorning her hair.

Couple of nights ago I saw an English movie called 'The Green Mile' starring Tom Hanks in the lead... It is a movie about a death cell where those condemned to die are executed by making them sit on an electric chair... The story is about those incharge of this death cell and its inmates - actually a flash back story... It was such a touching film (though it ran into about 3 hours), absorbing and I could not stop myself from crying... Those of you who have seen this movie, let me know how you feel about it and those who have not yet seen it please try and lay your hands on it whenever you can....

After watching Amir Khan's movie "Tharen Zamin Par", I don't feel like watching any other movie! It was ultimte!

TZP was indeed a great movie! Surya was very sad, after watching the way the teachers treat the autistic boy in the movie. This part of the school culture is a bit different here in the American schools. In Diya/Surya's school (and many others around the country), there are special classes for the specially challenged kids (aka SDC, autism is one of the condition), and the students from the regular classes are made to mingle with/play with the SDC kids, at least once a week. This teaches the students from the regular classes to be more tolerable/understanding towards the SDC kids.
