In Hindi, "Mere mehaboob thuje, meri mohabath kee kasam" from the film 'Mere Mehaboob' of eary 1960)sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Mohammad Rafi separately.I love this song for the wonderful lyrics and the magical voice of Rafi rendering the Urudhu words with feeling and Lata's sweet melodious voice. In Tamil, " Pon enben siru pooenben , kaanum kan enben , veru en enben" Sung by the great P.b Srinivas and Janaki madam ( I think from the movie Policekaaran magal" )It will start in a low pitch and touch the High note... which is something you have to hear to enjoy) Mr. Mohanaji, yes, Kalpana is one of the greatest artist.

thanks Sir. yes, i too like these songs...especially SJs version of panchamavEda... in PBS version, i liked the background score. & Kalpana is favorite for my parents too. She has been great in all her movies, i liked her kappu-biLupu movie very much, where she balances the dual role. and bAnallu nInE for her by SJ very much & my all time favorite - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R58a5Ht4-Ok. bAnallu nInE from bayaludAri is a special one for me. Do you know it has the same structure as mANikya vINA mupalAlayaMtIM ? Actually it resembles in the mAtra structure the Sanskrit metres iMdravajra and mahEMdravajra. It is a perfect example for khaMDajAti tripuTa tALa (IOO) in music. thanks for the information Sir. I normally try to compare songs, if it sounds similar, but dont have indepth knowledge about the rAga & tALa. This is quite interesting, i will hear both the songs next to next to get to know more.
