We would like to read about what kind of Diwali snacks that you've prepared or are planning to prepare for your family and friends. Please post your experiences, favorite shops that you buy snacks/sweets from, and recipes that you've tried. Remember, your friends here at ikolam learn from your posts, and also enjoy reading them, even if they might not get the time to prepare them.
Thank you in advance.

I plan on preparing muruku, thattai, rava ladoo, and neyappam for diwali...
For about 1 kg of muruku the ingredients are
1/2 kg maida
1/2 kg rice flour
one big spoon (kuliyel... the one we serve our sambhar etc) of hot oil
white til half a packet
salt to taste
2 tbsp of red chilli powder
Baking soda about half a spoon
Coconut milk from one coconut (extract the milk and add this to warm water)
Procedure:
Steam maida for about 10 to 15 minutes and keep aside. Add to this the rice flour, salt, til, red chilli powder, soda and mix well. To this add hot (really hot, be careful not to burn your fingers) oil and start kneading this using the coconut-water mixture (make sure this remains warm) into a soft dough. Prepare murukus as usual in hot oil on medium flame. Remember to cool the murukus before storing. Guaranteed this will melt in your mouth.
Tips: Use coconut milk for kneading and use extremely hot oil before kneading with coconut milk. Hope you try this... Happy Diwali in advance to all ikolam members.
