Did you feel it?

The only question everybody is asking anybody is - "Did you feel it?"
Yes, just before 2 PM (EDT), my chair shook for a few seconds. Originally I thought somebody was moving some heavy equipment like a centrifuge or something like that upstairs. But it continued again. I saw my colleagues running and I too ran outside. Interestingly, those who were walking like my boss and my wife did not feel it! My son was in a restaurant in a metro station in DC and the people there thought some train was passing by! This was a shallow but moderate (mag 5.9) earthquake and was felt from Boston to the Carolinas. Good conversation piece

I always feel as if I had missed something very interesting whenever I get asked that the next morning, on days when the earthquake occurs during late into the night or before dawn, when most people are asleep.
And, every time I come across this type of a news, I think about keeping my stock of emergency supplies replenished, but, don't get to it. :0

Update: Interestingly, the Washington area suffered minor damages such as wall collapse, damage to parked cars, cracks in houses, etc. The Washington monument is closed because of a crack. One of the spires of the National cathedral where marquee events such as weddings and funerals take place also fell. Hairline cracks seem to be a common occurrence. The animals in the National zoo were agitated even fifteen minutes before the actual quake.
