Anirudh, thanks a lot for uploading the beautiful coverage of wonderful kolams at Bangaluru ranga rangoli mala! Just admiring all entries. All colourful, most of them SB types were real treat to the eyes.Nice that Indu madam participated. How about you?. I could not even go to see them personally at Malleswaram and commmercial street.
thanks once again for the lovely coverage.

Thanks Anirudh for the wonderful photos. I think since Anirudh has covered all the kolams, there is no need for me to put the link of the same kolams. It was nice to meet him but unfortunately I would not catch up with Indu maam. Rajamma maam, I did not take part in the kolam. I came to know of the competition only through Indu maam. Perhaps if I had known I would have participated but definitely with the beautiful way in which the kolams were displayed I doubt I would have crossed the first round itself. It was indeed a visual treat to see those wonderful kolams but was a little disappointed because there were very very less dotted kolams, in fact I think only 3 if I am not wrong.

Great to see all enjoying the visual feast
No rajammaji, I could not praticipate. I also came to know only when an article came in Deccan Herald on 20th Aug. Also when i was talking with the organisers there, they said it was strictly for ladies, hope they open it up for all & also we get to know much early. Only wish was if we were allowed to watch the participants how they do it would have been great. I heard it wud be disturbing and hence it was restricted.
I think the time given is 3hrs for a rangoli and participants thought they will not have enough time to put dots and hence they choose SB rangolis as its faster process with colors & free hand.
It was nice to see tired, yet happy participants walking with big big bags/boxes, after empyting the colors.
I was thinking, why should we not try the same with our iKolam members? it would be a meet & also a contest....shall we???

Yes Anirudh, the organisers should have thought about Men participants, children below 14yrs and senior citizens(like me!)
Infact when I visited my brother who stays in Malleswaram,Margosa road where the first round was arranged,I came to know about this competition. The newspaper said around 400 participants will be there for the preliminery round.Since I am living in whitefield I needed somebod's assistance to travel due tomy leg problem.Felt helpless for not participating.I congratulate Indu madam for the participation and Pushpa for visiting the place.
nice idea to have a get together and competition of ikolam members.Local members please give ur views.

Hi Anirudh, Thank you so much for sharing the photos. Infact I wanted visit commercial street on that day, but I couldn't. I had visited malleshwaram prelims.
The competition was only for ladies, age >18 years and entry fee Rs.350. Rajamma mam you would have participated. Even I was dissappointed as there were very few dotted and sikku kolams.(hardly three to four).
All were SB kolams and no rules set. Some were paintings, some were free hand. A rangoli can not be a painting, they should have set some rules, so that judgement is easier. Otherwise it depends on the taste of the judge. Artist B.K.S.Verma would prefer artwork and paintings and the other judges may prefer something else. They had mentioned, innovative and creative rangoli is given priority.
Thanks again Anirudh.
