A special feature at Mylapore Kapaleeswar temple was the Astha thiku Kolu (8 sided)with a beautiful collection of dolls ,some of them lifesize. Each corner concentrated on dolls of one theme. The corner which you see concentrates on Shiva Parvati .Similarly the other corners had vinaygar ,murugar ,ammam dolls.arranged according to the mythlogical stories.

Sumathiji, Thank you for the photo. I went to the temple on the Vijaya Dasami day and was blaming myself for not taking a camera with me. It was done with good taste and grand it looked!I think, this idea was conceived by 'Smart Creations' a private agency.
Also there were some Nataraja dance poses done with grains. Sumathiji, Did you capture that also?

Sjnt ,Smart creations is the agency which sponsered the kolu and incidentally they are the people who polish your bronze idols very nicely
