Adichovvai
Today is Aadichovvai and today children, ladies all will be in very nice dress with flowers in their hair. Very nice to see children wearing pattu pavadai and flower pinnal and evening in some temples children perform kolattam kali. In my childhood I have played kolattam. It was a very nice experience some sisters and aunties will be singing songs and we children will dance to the tune of the song with kolattam. I have shown my daughter how it is played in Trivandrum in some temples still this ritual is there. I will all you a very happy Aadichovvai. Even aunties wear nice and beautiful pattusari with full of kodamullai and pichi and kanakambaram in thier hairs and visit devi kovil in the evenings. A nice experience and a beautiful look for the eyes.

hmm...i can remember in one of our holidays, we went to village festival, where guys of age 14-20yrs used to perfrom brisky kolaata. which used to be very fast and in pace with all folk songs, the tingling off gejjes(bell-anklets) and beats of kolu used to give a rythmic background music, it was a different experience. not sure whether that still exists today as many of them lost interest in all folk arts. where as in city we had only seen girls perform in school day with filmy style.
