Hello,
First of all, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a ‘Happy Navarathri’. Our main Kolu is made of 7 steps. This carries dolls such as Lakshmi, Saraswathi, Ganesha, Varahi, Lakshmi Narashimar, Ramar Set, Pandurangan-Ragumayee, Radhey Krishna, Brahmothsavam, Dasavatharam, Ashtalaklakshmi, kal garudan, Guruvayurappan, etc

The main theme of our golu this year is "108 Divya Desams"

The shrines, where the divine saints, Azhwars, said to be the Amsams of Narayana, have sung – Mangalaa saasanam, are called Divya Desams. There are 108 Divya Desams; 105 are located in India and 1 is in Nepal. The remaining two- Parama padam and Thiruppaarkadal - are in the celestial world. The presiding deities in these Divya Desams are found in various Thirukkolams (postures):
Nindra Thirukkolam (Standing posture) in 60 Divyadesams.
Veetrirundha Thirukkolam (Sitting posture) in 21 Divya desams
Kidantha Thirukkolam (Sleeping posture) in 27 Divya desams

We have divided the golu into three based on the postures:-

Nindra Thirukkolam portrays temples such as "Nithya kalyana perumal Temple, Thiruvidanthai", "Sri Gajendra Varadhan Temple, Kabisthalam", "Sri Varadharaja perumal Temple, Kanchipuram", "Sri Kallazhagar perumal Temple, AZhagarkoil", "Sri Parthasarathy Perumal Temple, Thiruvallikeni", "Sri Ulagalandha Perumal Temple, Thiru Oooragam", "Srinivasa Perumal Temple, Thirupathi", and "Sri Oppiliappan Perumal Temple, Thiru Vinnagar",

Veetrirundha Thirukkolam portrays temples such as "Thiru Dwaraka, Gujarat", "Sri Nava mohana Krishna, Gokul", "Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar Perumal, Thiruvalli", "Sri Prahaladha Varadhan, Ahobhilam", "Lakshmi Hayagreeva Perumal, Vennaththankarai", "Thiru Ayodhi, Vasthi" and "Sri Lakshmi Narayana Perumal Temple, Nenmeli"

For Kidantha Thirukkolam portrays temples such as "Sri Vadabatrasaayi Temple, Srivilluputhur", "Sri Ranganathar Temple, Srirangam" and "Thiruparkadal, Celestial World",

Our Golu this year has multiple themes. 1. Created a Temple like structure with photos. The temple represents 1 to 10 with 1 as Ganesha, 2 as the 2 Epics, 3 Trinity, 4 Vedas, 5 Panchabhuthas, 6 Aarupadai Muruga, 7 Saptha Kannigal, 8 Ashtalakshmi, 9 Navagraham and 10 being Dasavatars 2. Pancha bhootha sthalam 3. Seasons 4.Festivals - Pongal, Krishna Jayanthi, Vinayakar Chaturthi and Onam.
We also try to keep it interactive and engaging for the kids. This year, handed over 20 wooden peg dolls to kids, for them to decorate with paint, or costume. We also quiz them on the festivals and ask them to find dolls like the rubber snake or the Krishna who is hiding in the trees. This creates an interest in the children and helps them to participate

I had kept 5 steps for this year's Golu, the stands are made using our side shelf, dining table,center table and card board box.We created a farming field and an Angry bird theme to make it more attractive for kids.We had also kept harmonium to encourage young singers.Our fruits and vegetable seller was at the last step.Please enjoy viewing the pictures.

It is a simple golu, kept in a traditional way .Almost all the dolls are 2 generations old. Still preserving them in the memory of my grandmother, my mother & my husband's grandmother.

Theme of my Golu is Ananthashayanam, where Lord Maha Vishnu is resting on Adisesha, with Goddess Lakshmi by his side and Lord Brahma coming from his navel. The snake bed is made of thermocol and wire mesh, which was paper mached and painted. The Maha Vishnu doll was hand made. I used brass Durga face and painted blue. On the second step, I have 3 idols of Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati, which are 25 years old, and were handed down to me by my mother in law. On the bottom step, I have depicted Rasa Leela, where Radha and Krishna are on the swing and surrounded by dancing Gopikas.
